Stop Bullying

Bullying, when will it stop? I can’t really say what the main cause is, because there seems to be so many reasons out there for people to just lose their self control.  It can be anything from the mistreatment at home to unearned out casting at school. Whether it’s physically, verbally, or emotionally done, bullying is wrong. I’ve been involved with a bully once in my life, I was in third grade and this girl was following me home pushing me and jerking me back by my backpack. Unfortunately I couldn’t outrun her or defend myself against her, so I just endured it until my sister caught up to us and took her out! Not everyone has a sibling, other family member, or a friend to defend them. As an individual who hates to see people mistreated, that is something I will be looking out for, students who victims and those who victimizes. I know everyone can’t catch everything that happens, but looking out for the signs and doing something about is something we all should do whether we’re a teacher, parent, or a peer. This isn’t just a school situation; it’s an all throughout and everywhere in life situation.  At my previous job in a Residential Treatment Center I was on the lookout continuously for bullies because that was the mentality of the residents there. They have been in a world where you have to take what you want by any means necessary. The thing about it is, those kids don’t stay locked up forever, when they get released they join us in the general population of the world and you can’t tell the difference between them and the next person. I think it’s important to spread the word and put a stop to bullying, stand up to bullies. As a parent that’s the last thing I would want my kids to face. Stop Bullying

  1. I remember that when a little boy hit my sister in the stomach by swinging a roller skate, I told his big brother, who was always very calm and non-violent. I was shocked when his response was to promptly kick his younger brother in the stomach and ask how it felt--no wonder the youngest thought it was okay to attack someone else?

Then there was the child who set his little brother ON FIRE and the parents' response was "boys will be boys." It can be hard, as a teacher, when a student is acting out and parents won't listen to a word you say, too.
